Biography
Kaëlig Boché
Tenor · Brittany, France
A Breton tenor trained to the highest level, Kaëlig Boché combines the beauty of a naturally clear and supple timbre with remarkable musical and dramatic intelligence.
Training
Born in Brittany, Kaëlig Boché discovered vocal music with the Children’s Choir of Brittany — the Maîtrise of Rennes Cathedral, founded in 1984 by Abbé Jean Ruault. He continued his training at the Département Supérieur pour Jeunes Chanteurs of the CRR de Paris, before entering the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris (CNSMDP) in the class of Elène Golgevit, where he was awarded his Master in Lyric Art with highest honours in 2019, and his Artist Diploma in 2022.
Opéra National de Lyon Studio
Upon completing his studies, he was selected as a member of the Studio de l’Opéra National de Lyon under the direction of Daniele Rustioni. This formative experience enabled him to take the major stages with a vocal and dramatic maturity that drew unanimous praise, notably in Ravel’s L’Enfant et les Sortilèges and Verdi’s Ernani, at the Opéra Royal de Mascate, the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées and the Opéra National de Lyon.
Operatic career
His voice — clear, supple, endowed with a sunny timbre and limpid top notes, carried by perfect diction — naturally destines him for French lyric tenor roles and the great Mozartian repertoire. He has built a demanding career: from Gomatz in Zaïde, Tamino in The Magic Flute, Ferrando in Così fan tutte and Pedrillo in The Abduction from the Seraglio by Mozart, to Offenbach roles (Piquillo in La Périchole, Toby in Robinson Crusoé, Bobinet in La Vie Parisienne, Le Prince Quipasseparlà in Le Voyage dans la Lune), through Verdi, Ravel, Poulenc, Wagner and Zemlinsky. He performs on the stages of the Opéra National de Lyon, the Opéra de Saint-Étienne, the Opéra Grand Avignon, the Opéra de Marseille, the Opéra de Lille, the Opéra de Rennes, Angers Nantes Opéra, the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées, the Musée d’Orsay, the Philharmonie de Paris and numerous festivals across France and internationally.
Concert & oratorio
A sought-after tenor for concert and oratorio programmes, Kaëlig Boché is regularly engaged for major choral works: Fauré’s Requiem, Dvořák’s Stabat Mater, Mozart’s Mass in C minor, Handel’s Messiah, Bach cantatas. His clarity of tone, refined legato and natural musicality make him a favoured partner for conductors and vocal ensembles seeking a French lyric tenor for concert projects.
Mélodie & recital
A passionate advocate of French mélodie and Lied, Kaëlig Boché is one of France’s leading tenors for the mélodie recital. He pursues a recitalist career alongside pianists such as Jeanne Vallée, Célia Oneto-Bensaid, Nicolas Royez, Thomas Tacquet, Sébastien Joly, Tanguy de Williencourt and Adam Laloum. Programmed for French mélodie recitals — Fauré, Duparc, Debussy, Poulenc, Ravel, Chausson — as well as Lied evenings, he brings a deep commitment to this intimate and demanding repertoire. Several discographic recordings devoted to the discovery or rediscovery of French, German and English composers.
Cultural commitment
Deeply attached to his native Brittany, Kaëlig Boché re-founded in 2019 the Children’s Choir of Brittany association with former choir members, and took on its administrative direction. Among their achievements: numerous concerts, work on the little-known repertoire of Breton composers, several discographic and audiovisual recordings, and European tours. An opera singer and cultural entrepreneur, he unites an international career with the transmission of his art to younger generations.
"He impresses as much with his vocal refinement as with his ease on stage — quite rightly acclaimed at curtain calls."
